Frequently asked questions

Everything people actually ask us — answered honestly.

Is RedNoteViDownload really free?
Yes — completely. No download caps, no account, no hidden fees, no 'premium' quality tier. The site is supported by unobtrusive advertising.
Do I need to install an app or sign up?
No. Everything runs in your browser on any device. There's nothing to install and no account to create. (You can optionally 'Add to Home Screen' to use it like an app.)
Which formats and qualities can I download?
Videos are delivered as universally playable MP4 (H.264 video + AAC audio, fast-start). You can pick any quality the creator uploaded — often up to 1080p Full HD. Audio can be extracted at 128 or 256 kbps (AAC). Gallery-note photos and cover images come as original-quality JPEGs.
Are the videos really watermark-free?
Yes. Files are saved exactly as the creator uploaded them. We never add watermarks, logos or overlays of our own.
What does 'Sign-in required by RedNote' mean?
RedNote sometimes shows a sign-in wall to datacenter traffic. Our Auto-Retry Bypass Engine automatically tries several routes — including the international rednote.com mirror — and usually succeeds without any account. If a note still can't be reached, the error panel explains why and offers an optional Advanced cookie field.
Why does a link say 'expired' or 'private'?
Share links can expire, and some notes are visible only to the author's followers. In both cases no tool can fetch them — ask for a fresh link. We tell you exactly which case happened instead of failing silently.
Is downloading RedNote videos legal?
Downloading a publicly posted video for personal, offline viewing is generally tolerated, similar to screen-recording. Re-uploading, selling or redistributing someone else's content is not. See our Copyright Policy for clear do's and don'ts.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes — it's a website, so any modern browser works. On iPhone, downloads appear in the Files app; on Android in your Downloads folder. Step-by-step guides are on the blog.
Do you store my downloads or links?
Prepared files are kept for at most one hour so your browser can download them, then deleted automatically. Your history and favorites are stored only on your own device. See the Privacy Policy.
Can I download from India, where RedNote is blocked?
Yes. RedNote's app and website are unreachable on Indian networks, but our server fetches the media for you — you only need to reach our website. That's the whole point of the tool.
